Free Mental Health Awareness Training

 

Sweetser offers free Mental Health Awareness Trainings to educate our community on how to recognize and respond to the mental health needs of all people.

Through a federal grant from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Sweetser offers mental health awareness trainings at no cost to groups/participants who live or work in Maine.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) 
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is an 8-hour comprehensive skills-based early-intervention certification course teaching how to recognize and understand signs of a mental health or substance use challenge/crisis in others, how to respond and provide initial support, and how to help connect them to appropriate mental health resources/services.

QPR: Suicide Prevention & Intervention
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper training is a 2-hour focused skills-based course on how to recognize warning signs of suicide in others, how to intervene, and how to connect them to appropriate mental health resources/services.

Sweetser’s mental health awareness trainings can be provided for free across Maine.

In-Person trainings are available to be hosted in the following counties:

  • Androscoggin
  • Cumberland
  • Knox
  • Lincoln
  • Penobscot
  • Sagadahoc
  • Waldo
  • York

Virtual trainings are available to be hosted in partnership with groups and taken by community members located anywhere in Maine.
